Reading Expectations: (READ EVERY NIGHT!)
* How Long Should I Read? On Level: 10 - 20 minutes each night Advanced and Accelerated: 20 - 30 minutes each night *What Should I be Reading - Fiction or Non-Fiction? Pick a Just Right Book that is fiction. THINK about the Main Character as you read ... what is their Character Trait? Can you find evidence to prove their Character Trait from how they look, how they act, and what they say or think? *What do I do after I Read? We are going to start Writing About Our Reading in class, so you will no longer have a reading journal due each Friday. HOWEVER, if you'd like to keep journaling at home, please go for it! I would LOVE to read what you write! |

Phonics will be Words Their Way (WTW) Sort: WTW work will be done in school throughout the week and brought home before/by Wednesday. This weeks pattern is *It is important that students study the phonics pattern, memorizing the words will not help them, understanding the phonics pattern is crucial for mastering phonics. *Also it is important to understand that phonics builds week after week, so it important to understand each week's pattern. :)

Why Homework? Homework is a way for students to practice skills taught in the classroom. It is also a way for students to take responsibility and ownership of their learning. I expect homework to be on-time and done with care. Students should be proud of this work! Homework Expectations: Homework assignments will be posted by Monday morning for the upcoming school week. All assignments must be turned in by the following Monday or earlier, as your family schedule allows. |
